By The Rising of the Moon

Historical Fiction

An orphaned singer with precocious talent and reckless moxie is drawn into a high stakes cat-and-mouse game with the infamous and implacable Pinkerton detective who sent her rabble-rousing father to the gallows. Set in the late 1800s during Vaudeville’s heyday and based on true events rendered in striking authentic detail, BY THE RISING OF THE MOON features a glittering cast of historical characters, including Buffalo Bill Cody, Clarence Darrow, and The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

The novel is inspired by the author’s own family history, which includes members of the infamous Molly Maguires, the radical coal mining labor activists.

Time’s Apprentice

Time Traveling YA Fiction

In 1878, three teens –  Edgar, an androgynous theatre performer and actual freak of nature; Fiacre, his ruffian brother, and Lucy, a reluctant girl psychic – are thrown together in a small New England town after a devastating theater fire reveals a woman’s coffin and, beyond it, secret underground passages that lead to other eras. The three end up pursuing through time Lucy’s guardian, Ambrose DeGare, a magician who may have set the fire himself to advance his own dark journey back to 1865 on a mission of revenge to undo the Union’s victory in the Civil War.
